Bicycle Accident
Centerville Police is seeking information from the public to locate the driver and vehicle involved in a hit and run crash that left a six year old girl with a broken arm, bruises, and a concussion.
This crash occurred on 300 North and 300 East last night around 6pm. The six year old girl was riding her bicycle northbound on 300 East through the intersection of 300 North when she was struck by a westbound minivan. At the time of the accident the sun was setting in the west and may have been blinding the driver of the van. The van is described as either grey or green in color. The make, model and year of the vehicle are unknown. There may be some scuffing on the van to the right front bumper area.
The area where this crash occurred is residential with low traffic volume. A soccer game was going on near 200 East and 300 North in the area at Centerville Elementary, and this may involve a parent of one of the players.
The girl was taken by ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital and is recovering from her injuries today. She was not wearing a helmet.
Anyone with information on this incident may call the Centerville Police at 292-8441.
